Swiss Development Group recently acted as proud sponsors of a series of junior ice hockey camps in Leukerbad held at the local Sportarena. The concept, introduced by ex Canadian International and NHL league professional, Bob Mongrain, sees young, talented players experience coaching from hockey professionals; Bob and friends. Bobs passion for hockey has encouraged him to pass on his knowledge and experience to children who he hopes will absorb sporting values, principles and skills that are the foundation of success.
The camp featured skills, drills, training and friendly competition between local children. This comprehensive programme has been specifically designed to improve technical, physical and mental performance of the young players. The highlight for many was the expert coaching provided by professional Swiss and Russian ice hockey players including Felix Hollenstein, Thibault Monnet and Slava Bykov. The professionals gave tips on the ice, in the classroom and posed for photo opportunities with the junior players.
After the children displayed their talents on the ice, it was time for the professionals from the Swiss Ski League, including Carlo Janka, former Olympic and World Champion, to step out onto the rink for some pre season practice. The team was in great form as they prepare for the winter season, displaying tough competition, skillful goals and agile saves from the keepers.
At the forefront of Swiss Development Groups philosophy is a maintained involvement with the community surrounding their projects. Swiss Development Group are therefore looking forward to the hockey season for further involvement in the winter league and to support junior players in the region.
