From humble beginnings as a small three-day local event, the Montreux Jazz Festival, dating back to 1967, has developed to become a two week musical extravaganza with prestigious international status.
With over 200,000 attendees descending upon the picturesque lakeside town of Montreux, the event is now the second largest festival in the world. Set to the scenic backdrop of the Swiss Alps, the bijous town, a 20 minute drive from Du Parc, plays host to both local and global artists upon the shores of Lake Geneva.
The 2013 47th edition of the eminent event did not fail to disappoint with global artists on hand to entertain the delighted audience. Recently rewarded with UNESCO cultural heritage status, this years sell out festival featured a record breaking 100 concerts. Jazz of course lay at the heart of the festival's historic core with genres from blues to rock, pop, Latin and beyond complementing the 14 day line up. 2013 highlights included crowd pleasing performances from Prince, Leonard Cohen and Marcus Miller.
Swiss Development Group, as contributing sponsor, hosted guests in a hospitality lounge overlooking the lake, allowing visitors to enjoy the music and soak up the atmosphere in style. Future residents at Du Parc can gain privileged access to the annual festival through SDG's exclusive in house lifestyle club, Rockefeller Living who can secure residents the very best event tickets. Rockefeller Living is also on hand to escort guests to the "Rolls Royce of music festivals" (Quincy Jones) in Du Parc's very own Rolls Royce.
With the sun setting on another year's festivities, we look forward to all that the 48th Jazz Festival will bring. In the meantime, Montreux and the surrounding region has a year round calendar of concerts to be enjoyed.
